Mentor, you are the Hero of this Story.

 

We want to help you find yourself in relationship with a kid or two, be successful, and end well.

That's why we use the 6 Steps and Elements of Effective Mentoring to ensure it.

 

1. Recruitment.  Complete this short form.

2. Screening. We encourage every partner organization to have a screening process to make sure you and the child are emotionally, physically, and legally safe.

3. Training. We offer a 6-part online training and eventually in-person trainings to equip you with confidence, knowledge, and skills to best care for the youth you were meant to care for. We also curate all other resources here.

4. Matching and Initiating.  We want to quickly find you the best fit when it comes to partner organization, timing, frequency, age/gender of kid, etc.  Your partner organization will guide you into properly initiating relationship.

5. Monitoring and Support. After every time you mentor/volunteer we ask you complete a 30-second feedback form so us and your partner/host organization can help you sustain and grow in confidence. This is especially true when you feel you "aren't making a difference." Trust us. Every time you show up you say, "you are valuable" and a lot is going on under the surface.  We also want to support you in any way we can. One important way is through community, intentionally connecting with other mentors like you.

6. Closure. Begin with the end in mind. Every mentoring relationship ends or shifts at some point.  We want you to end well. The last thing a child needs is for a mentor to end poorly or abruptly.
