Partners! We Love You!
Partner, without you, our mentors would have no place to serve.
We hope to continue supporting you with people, connection, knowledge, and spotlighting so together we can share the story of how the village of our county cares for our kids, Until "The Children Are Well".
All of our MOU'd partners and their information are highlighted and mapped within our mentoring database here.
Stories of our partners and snapshots of mentors will eventually be highlighted here.
Future Partners Filling The Gap
There are children and youth in Miami County who have yet to be served. There are gaps needing filled.
Will you help fill them? See below Identified Gaps by Town and Program Type.
If you want to be a part of a first group conversation to fill a gap, please let us know.
Also inform us of gaps you see so we can display them and see who might be interested in filling them.

6 Elements of Effective Mentoring
MENTOR National is the leading mentoring collaborator and equipper in the United States. We use their 6 Steps and Elements of Effective Mentoring as the standard to equip current partners and help future partners successfully launch.
-
Recruitment. Mentors complete this short form.
-
Screening. We encourage every partner organization to have a screening process to make sure the mentor and child are emotionally, physically, and legally safe.
-
Training. We offer a 6-part online training and eventually in-person trainings to equip mentors with confidence, knowledge, and skills to best care for the youth in the partners care. We also curate and share other resources.
-
Matching and Initiating. We match mentors with the right partner organization based on the mentors preference of proximity, timing, frequency, age/gender of kid, etc. Partner organizations are in chare of guiding mentors into properly initiating relationship.
-
Monitoring and Support. After every time a mentor engages we ask they complete a 30-second feedback form so us and the partner organization can help mentors sustain and grow in confidence. There is a retention problem with mentors and we want to support them with conversations, content, and community.
-
Closure. Beginning with the end in mind, we wan every mentoring relationship to end or shift well. The last thing a child or mentor needs is for a relationship to end poorly or abruptly.
